Death Note

Rating: 9/10

This anime goes into the story about a genius level high school boy named Light. This young man is extremely intelligent and has a very potent sense of justice stemming form the fact that his father is a member of the police force. While light goes about his daily life he finds discovers a peculiar book on the ground that would change his entire life. He opens the book to find a set of rules written down. After carefully analyzing the book and the rules  that came with it Light decides to test  it out on a local criminal. He realizes he can kill anyone by simply writing the name down in the book and specify their cause of death. After killing the first person an investigation begins on the causes of these sudden unexpected deaths. Light also starts to see otherworldly phenomena when he meets a shinigami named Ryuk. This anime is extremely engaging while getting into the really dark topic of murder. The anime starts off with an innocent boy with a bright future and further goes to show how absolute power can corrupt a person absolutely. In terms of the story-line it gets very detailed into each character and how they come to be. The plot is extremely interesting as it is a regular everyday life with the twist of supernatural occurances. In terms of the art the character are very well defined and a lot of detail goes into each character. Each character has a very defined look and personality whereas in other animes side characters look very generic and are simply supporting characters. THe music for the opening song is very catchy and kind of gives you an idea of the situation that is going on throughout the show. Overall this anime is deeply engaging and should be near the top if not at the top of your must watch list. This anime is extremely unique and definitely worth the time you spend watching.
